Error in SQL Server Management Studio when trying to attach a database: Cannot show requested dialog

Error in SQL Server Management Studio when trying to attach a database:

Cannot show requested dialog. Additional information: Parameter name: nColIndex Actual value was -1. (Microsoft.SqlServer.GridControl)
 

Error is caused by the user logged into SQL having the default database detached improperly. To solve this issue, log into SQL with another user and attach the database.
