Question
What is meant by dynamic recursive segments in an Enterprise system?
Answer
Dynamic segments are system maintained segment groups. When new segments are added to the system they are automatically added to the segment group. In the case of a dynamic recursive segment the segment always contains all segments from the Master node and all Regional nodes recursively.
As an example, imagine that you have an Enterprise system that has a Master node located in Albany, NY. Imagine that the Master node has Regional nodes in, for this example, Rochester and Syracuse. If you give an OnGuard user access to the Dynamic Recursive segments in Albany they would then have access to all of the Rochester and Syracuse segments even if new segments are added at a later date. However, if the user only has access to the Dynamic Recursive segments in the Rochester segment they will only have access to the Rochester segment and any segments below it and not the Albany Master node.
