Symptom
During installation of SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2005 Express, the installation may appear to hang at a step labeled as "Setting file security" in the installer window.
Installation may complete, but may take up to 24 hours or more to do so.

The Microsoft Knowledge Base article references two methods as workarounds. Method 1 has been used with favorable results in situations where time is limited. However, method 1 will not succeed when you are installing a SQL Server failover cluster.
